Our world is fast-paced and ever-changing. Places like the North Lakeland Discovery Center are more important than ever for all ages to discover, learn, and appreciate our natural world. Here, nature-based activities and discoveries happen every day, but only with your help.

Let me give you an example of the kinds of connections that happen here:

For one week each summer, the North Lakeland Discovery Center serves as home base for high school students from the Center for Conservation Leadership. They travel here from the Lake Forest, Illinois area to explore all our Northwoods has to offer.two girls look over a scenic view

Last summer, two young women came to the Discovery Center. They hadn’t spent much time together before, but here, immersed in the dense woodlands, pristine waterways, and grand quietude of nature, they forged lasting connections to our natural world, and to each other.

Too often, being connected means being connected with a phone, email, texts, and everything else our modern world involves. The North Lakeland Discovery Center remains a respite for those seeking a place to recharge a deeper need for connection to nature and the stillness of things. It is supporters like you that make these connections for visitors possible.

Because of your generous support, the Discovery Center:

  • Promotes outdoor play and learning for children, school groups and visitors.
  • Leads everyday citizens in scientific studies such as local bat population surveys, banding songbirds, and monitoring our waters for aquatic invasive species.
  • Preserves this public land for outdoor recreation and reflection among trails, forest, bog and lake for generations to come.

Our mission is to “Naturally Inspire and Enrich Lives through Meaningful Connections with People, Nature and Community." Your gift makes meaningful connections possible. Thank you for your continued support. Donate today.
