Boulder Junction, WI

Background and Interests

After working for the Wisconsin DNR in a variety of jobs and locations, my wife, Julie, and I are both happily retired and enjoy living in the Northwoods.
Cross-country skiing, bicycling and paddling are just a few of our favorite outdoor activities.  Whenever we travel, the usual focus of the trip is a National Park or natural area to see and learn about the natural history of the region.  We’ve enjoyed taking field trips, carnivore tracking and establishing prairie plantings on our property.

Reasons for signing up for this program

I was impressed by the list of instructors that were scheduled to handle the specific topics. This training will provide me with a broad overview of Wisconsin’s natural environment that I can use to volunteer on projects and as a foundation for continued learning.

Specific naturalist areas of interest

I enjoy photographing plants, animals, and landscapes.
Using maps to search out new hiking trails, big trees and places to explore.
Finding books and field guides for my nature library.

My nature slogan that might change the world!

Birds sing, frogs croak, wolves howl; we interpret, to better know them all.
