Tom is a writer and retired business owner, attorney, and municipal judge.

What inspired me to join the board:
In 1995, I, along with others including the North Lakeland School, saw the ad in the Lakeland Times: former DNR YCC camp for rent. We all believed an outdoor education center could be a huge community asset, put in a bid and were awarded the lease. Helping the Discovery Center grow from a handful of volunteers to what it is today has been one of my most significant passions. It's the mission, the staff, the volunteers - all of it.

How I connect with the natural world:
Skiing, hiking, biking, fishing, scuba diving, just experiencing the incredible diversity on our planet. My wife and I have traveled extensively to out-of-the-way natural places, but the Northwoods of Wisconsin is our favorite place in all the world. It's home.
