Kim Bires-Jenich

Residence: Madison, WI/Presque Isle, WI

Career: Retired teacher of 27 years in the field of Early Childhood and Elementary Special Education. Kim also owned and operated a family daycare business in her home.

Personal: Kim is married with two grown sons. She enjoys biking, hiking, kayaking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing with her husband in the Northwoods.  Family camping trips in the Northern Highland American Legion State Forest prompted them to purchase a home in Presque Isle in order to enjoy the area year round.  They also enjoyed all the naturalist programs they could fit in to their schedule.

Why become a Master Naturalist? Kim pursued certification as a Master Naturalist because she loves the Northwoods! She wants to learn as much as she can about our natural world in order to share this passion and to assist in its preservation.  She looks forward to volunteering to share and pursue this passion with adults and children!

Favorite Quote: Kim’s passion for the natural world was sparked many years ago by reading Walden, from which she likes to quote,Heaven is under our feet as well as over our heads.”
Henry David Thoreau
