Residence: Winchester, WI, Vilas County (there are two Winchesters!)
Career: Retired from 35 years as a special education teacher in Racine. She continues to work at the local grade school.
Personal:. Anne and her husband always loved the Northwoods, so they relocated here 6 years ago after retirement. Anne really enjoys the outdoors, the water and the woods. She loves kayaking, biking, snowshoeing and snowmobiling, and she also enjoys perennial and vegetable gardening, reading, and crochet. A personal mentor is Mark Naniot, wildlife rehab specialist from Wild Instincts, for whom Anne volunteers.
Why become a Master Naturalist? Anne is concerned about the ecology of the Northwood’s waters and forests. She wants to educate herself more on different aspects of the environment and the impact man has on it so she is better able to pass the love of the area and wildlife to others to help them understand the need for conservation of our earth.
Favorite Resources: Wisconsin Natural Resources magazine; Graced by the Seasons, and A Northwoods Companion, both by John Bates.
Words of Wisdom: We need to work hard to keep the beautiful water and woods as pristine as we can.
