What is an Invasive Species?
  • A species that is very aggressive able to over take an area crowding out the native species and potentially changing the ecosystem and reducing the biodiversity of the area.
  • Invasive Species are becoming an increasing concern across the world as there is an increase in mobility there are more chances for the spread on invasive species.

Invasive Species Threatening Our Area

Eurasian Watermilfoil
(Myriophyllum spicatum)

Purple Loosestrife
(Lythrum salicaria)

Curly-leaf Pondweed
(Potamogeton crispus)

Rusty Crayfish
(Orconectes rusticus)

Spiny Tailed Water Flea
(Bythotrephes longimanus)
Fishhook Water Flea
(Cercopagis pengoi)

Zebra Mussel
(Dreissena polymorpha)

Chinese Mystery Snail
(Cipangopaludina chinensis)

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!!!

There are two programs that you can choose from to help aid in the fight against these invasive species.

Citizen Lake Monitoring—Keep your eyes peeled for any species (plant or animal) that look suspicious and report any invasive species. You can do this while fishing, swimming, boating or simply from your lake shore.

Clean Boats Clean Waters—Educate boaters at landings about invasive species threatening our waters and inspect boats and trailers. Participants to spot check landings and leave information for boaters are also needed.

Do your part to protect our waters from these aliens who are threatening our lakes. It’s as easy as a phone call or email to become involved and there is FREE training available!
